My orthodontist scared the crap out of me a while ago, said I’ll need 6 teeth pulled at least. I had periodontal disease and I am getting treated for it, but I was wondering if I can still get implants down the road with the disease?

I have several questions regarding Periodontal Disease. I read in a magazine that if your toothbrush touches someone else’s and they have periodontal disease, chances are you will get it to.
So my first question is can you get periodontal disease by kissing someone who has the disease?
Second question is, is it contagious?
Third question, What can you do to prevent Periodontal Disease?
And last question, once you have Periodontal Disease, do you always have it??

Any info you may have, would be greatly appreciated.
And for the wise a&& who suggests that I brush my teeth, thanks but I already do that!!

Dentist told me I have Moderate Periodontal Disease and some pockets of 5-6mm, yet I go every 6 months to dentist, also have never had bleeding gums I thought that was a sign?
Teeth seem to have slight movement sing I saw the hygienist why is this?

I always hear that tobacco smokers have a greater risk of developing many different dental and mouth problems. I realize that smoking stains the teeth brownish yellow and causes bad breath(besides causing many serious diseases), but how exactly does it lead to tooth problems like causing cavities and gum disease? Please note, I am a non-smoker, but some people in my family smoke. Does the same go for marijuana smokers, or only tobacco smokers?

I just recently found out I have periodontal disease. Soon I will be having the scaling and planing done. I have to admit I am a bit nervous about the procedure. But also nervous about how to take care of my teeth properly once it is done.
